The Future of Healthcare in Canada
Earlier this year, we conducted the 2024 HCP Survey, reaching out to our community of 30,000 Canadian healthcare practitioners. The survey delved into various aspects of healthcare practices and clinics/pharmacies, covering demographics, staffing metrics, and questions regarding mental health and burnout.
We're excited to share some of the key insights gleaned from the survey, providing you with a glimpse into the current trends shaping healthcare.
One striking finding emerged when we asked participants if they were contemplating leaving their province: a significant 55.6% responded with "Yes." This sentiment resonates with a study conducted by the Alberta Medical Association, which yielded similar results. One of the driving forces behind this trend seems to be the escalating inflation costs, posing challenges to the sustainability of practices.
Amidst staffing shortages and burnout concerns, a considerable portion of respondents—38.9%, as per the Cherry Health HCP survey—have pondered exiting the healthcare profession altogether. These findings underscore the pressing need to address the issues of funding support, and staffing within the healthcare sector.
